      the 17th and 18th centuries, conspicuous both for their
      daring and their fine dress.

MOUSQUETAIRE, n.  A long glove covering a part of the arm.  Worn in
New Jersey.  But "mousquetaire" is a might poor way to spell
muskeeter.
